Maybe they ought to call it KO, as in knockout. When Robert Michael Payne went inside his Safety Harbor home yesterday afternoon his 65-year-old mom was in the kitchen doing the dishes. Suddenly, for some unknown reason, Payne, 22, placed his hands around his mom's neck and began to choke her, deputies said, according to a news releasefrom the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
Mom then reportedly then struck her son on his head with a plate. The son then allegedly took a piece of the broken plate and slashed his mom’s throat, the release stated.
Roofers working nearby saw the two run outside – and called 911.
Deputies said that Robert Payne had told them that he had taken synthetic drugs, mentioning K-2 and Spice.
Paramedics took both patients to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
