The Miami Dolphins have come a long way since I joined the beat in late February.
The turnaround has been rather remarkable from my perspective.
Now that minicamp has ended and there will be weeks of nothing but to countdown to training camp, which begins in late July, it's time to take stock of past few months.
From an on-field perspective, my partner Omar Kelly pieced together the state of the Dolphins in today's Sun Sentinel and on SunSentinel.com.
I'm more curious about what fans think about all the decisions made by Dolphins management since the low point - the fan protest outside of the training facility, which came on the heels of a failed attempt to pursue then-free-agent quarterbacks Peyton Manning. They also met with Matt Flynn and Alex Smith, who both signed elsewhere.
The turnaround, in my opinion, began when owner Stephen Ross called at least one fan to understand what had upset the people. And several attempts to show transparency have proven to win public praise.
The Dolphins went ahead with the plans and exited the NFL draft with quarterback Ryan Tannehill and others, which prompted general manager Jeff Ireland to say regarding the draft "If our board was right, then we killed it."
Whether or not those decisions prove to be on point will take time to understand.
At this point, Tannehill does not appear ready to be the starting quarterback. Jonathan Martin's move to right tackle is behind schedule because of Martin's obligations to finish school at Stanford, which caused him to miss valuable voluntary work during organized team activities.
Olivier Vernon appears to be everything the Dolphins could want in a talented defensive end. And Lamar Miller's speed at the running back position has been eye opening, but it's still unclear how his shoulder will hold up once hitting begins.
Free agent signings such as Richard Marshall and David Garrard have shown promise. And the addition of Chad Ochocinco gives the Dolphins a potential new go-to target after the Dolphins traded away 2011 leading receiver Brandon Marshall for a pair of third-round draft picks.
So in this edition of Fan Voice we ask: What's your impression of the Miami Dolphins today?
