After a public forum and city commission meeting, officials will continue to accept input from residents about how to fund an $8.3 million rebuilding of the town's beach planned for December.
Single family homeowners fear assessments based on taxable property value will be costly and inequitable to what condo residents may be charged.
"Many, many people have sent us their opinions," Mayor Carmen McGarry said. "We're all very eager to get this [beach widening project] going and I'm very happy to see that there are so many residents interested."
At the June 2 meeting, commissioners will open requests for proposals for assessment methods from four consultants.
