Isaac came and South Florida survived, but the winds and rains did dampen the whole weekend, pun intended. To make up for lost time you may have spent indoors, watching your trees sway, here are this week's best rock shows. That they fall mostly on Friday is pure coincidence.
The Holstered plays the Five Points Lounge with Gallimimus Friday, cranking up the distortion on their guitars and, with it, the energy level. There's a $5 cover charge for the show, but from the samples on their Web sites, it sounds like the bands are worth even $10. The show starts at 9 p.m. and there will be craft-beer specials announced later this week. Five Points Lounge, 2608 S. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale.
Meanwhile, in Boca, The Dropa Stone brings their Boyd-esque tunes to the Funky Buddha. The show also starts at 9 p.m. Friday with a $5 cover, and Georgia jam rockers Lingo will get some time on the stage. Lingo's new album is out Sept. 18, so the band's on tour in Southeast until then. The Funky Buddha, 2621 N. Federal highway, Boca Raton.
Lingo will also play the Funky Biscuit, because one band can never have too much Boca
