Sonny Quach, representing Joe Rose and the Sylvester Cancer Center in honor of Jim Mandich, won the WQAM Celebrity poker tournament on Jan. 23.
The tournament, promoted by WQAM Radio, drew 60 players to the Big Easy Poker Room at Mardi Gras Casino. Players included team hosts Sid Rosenberg, Joe Rose and Channing Crowder. Others playing included the Marlins’ Logan Morrison, the Dolphins’ Will Allen and Panthers broadcaster Randy Moeller.
The win meant $1,120 for the center.
Meanwhile, Mardi has lined up its February promotions:
Buy a rack, get a stack seven days a week before 10 a.m. Buy-in for $100 and receive an extra $20 in chips after 90 minutes of play.
Win, place and show high hand derby from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The high hand gets $300, place gets $200 and show gets $100.
26 progressive high hands from 2 p.m. to 3 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.
A $500 high hand every half hour from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
There are also three tournaments: A $1,000 guaranteed free-roll shootout at 7 p.m. Sundays, starting Feb. 12. (Shootout format means you win your table to advance to the final table.)
