The Miami Marlins on Friday released their 2013 spring training schedule. Pitchers and catchers are on the field for their first official workout on Feb. 11. Four days later, the club will have its first full squad practice in preparation for the Feb. 23 Grapefruit League opener against the Cardinals at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter.

Spring training is longer this season because of the World Baseball Classic. Several WBC teams have exhibition games throughout the spring. The Venezuelan team, presumably led by ex-Marlin Miguel Cabrera, will play the Marlins on March 5.

Because of the World Baseball Classic, the Marlins could not work in its annual exhibition game against the University of Miami.

Some other schedule highlights: the Marlins host the Yankees and Red Sox on March 8 and March 11, respectively. Also visiting Roger Dean Stadium will be the Twins (March 1), Mets (Feb. 26, March 3, and under the lights on March 22), Braves (March 13) and Tigers (March 25).

Season-ticket packages and 6+ Plans, which are the best options to ensure great seats for the Yankees and Red Sox games, are currently available by calling (561) 799-1345. Individual game tickets will go on sale at the Roger Dean Stadium Box Office and local Ticketmaster locations on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 10 am.
