New Coke

On April 23, the Coca-Cola Co. introduced what it described as a "reformulated" version of its landmark soda. Because this is America, and we care deeply about such things, we found the idea of this soda, better known as “New Coke,” to be revolting. So we revolted. Seventy-nine days later, Coca-Cola dropped to its knees, offered perhaps the loudest mea culpa in marketing history and announced, to the delight of dentists everywhere, that old Coke was back. On July 11, Coca-Cola Classic was born. Make that reborn.
