Boys lacrosse: Connor Whipple, St. Andrew's

Pos.: Attacker Season highlights: Whipple scored three goals late to clinch the state championship game for St. Andrew's against Lake Highland Prep in a 16-10 victory, capping an All-American season with 100 goals, the second-highest total in the nation. His three, fourth-quarter goals were prefaced with an 11-goal game against Gulliver and a nine-goal game against Benjamin. Comment: The century of goals doubled his total from his sophomore season and put him second in the nation in goals scored, behind Pine Crest¿s Harris Stolzenberg, according to ESPN. Whipple was keyed in by the state's best defenses--St. Andrew's (23-2) played as tough a schedule as anyone in Florida--but was still able to score, seemingly at will. He's committed to Georgetown University. Athlete's quote: "Overall, it was a great season. Winning a state championship was unbelievable. I can¿t thank my teammates and fans enough. That helped make this year possible. Also, Jake Levine and Jordan Todd led this team to a state title. And, of course, nothing would be possible without coach RJ Dawson."
