Volusia sheriff's lieutenant busted on grand theft charges for allegedly scamming his HOA

Brian Nardiello, 39, a Volusia County sheriff's lieutenant was busted after

Port Orange

cops say he used money from his homeowners' association to renovate his own town house, as well as another home he owns elsewhere, reports

Investigators said Nardiello presented his HOA with receipts and claimed he spent his own money on repairs and renovations to units at the subdivision -- but he used the money instead on his own properties, an arrest report shows.

But he caught a bit of a break: Investigators could only prove he was reimbursed for about a third of what he actually fraundently collected because the HOA's records were stolen last year, according to the report.
