Experience: Edelstein served as vice president of social media and sole event producer for Global Strategic Management Institute (GSMI), where she oversaw all social media marketing efforts and produced 17 executive level summits focused on social media, mobile marketing and blogging. She was invited to be a contributing author for Mashable in 2010. Edelstein speaks at national conferences on the use of social media to amplify brand messages at BlogWorld, NTEN, Gravity Summit and Social Media Strategies Summit over the course of five years from 2008 through 2012.
Education: degrees Juris Doctorate - Law degree from Nova Southeastern University in Davie.
Awards/honors: The 2009 Cancer Fighter Award for the Southern Region went to Spirit Jump, recognized for receiving the most positive reviews out of all the Southern Cancer Charities including American Cancer Society and Fran Dresscher's Cancer Schmancer Foundation.
Why the career move: Prior to Spirit Jump I was in law school at Nova Southeastern, and in my second year of law school. I was diagnosed with 3b Cervical Cancer. After receiving aggressive treatment at Dana Farber Cancer Institute I returned to law school. In an effort to connect with other survivors, show support to other fighters and work through my own battle I started Spirit Jump. I began a blog: I Kicked Cancer’s Ass, in 2007, reaching out to cancer communities on social platforms. Through this experience I realized the amazing opportunities social platforms provide to businesses of all shapes and sizes. I was an early adopter of Twitter and it truly amplified my voice and message. Seeing the amazing opportunities social media provides inspired me to pursue a career in social media marketing, sharing my knowledge and experience with others to help them amplify their businesses message.
Top goal in your new position: To grow with Tilson PR and spearhead its social media team.
What have you learned so far: That a South Florida public relations agency can be a true player in the world of PR and social media.
