Have unspent gift cards lingering around from the holidays?
Now you can take them to CVS/pharmacy stores and trade them for store credit. The exchange is part of a program by Plastic Jungle, an online gift card exchange platform.
Customers receive the CVS credit via an electronic gift card, which can be used instantly to buy everyday items, including prescriptions.
Plastic Jungle said the program monetizes the billions of dollars in unused cards, “giving customers more spending power exactly when and where they want it.”
More than 150 gift cards from different retailers are accepted for the exchange, including Banana Republic, Office Depot and Walmart. Cards must have a minimum balance of $10.
“Our ability to make this an immediate process that delivers value to both the consumer and CVS/pharmacy is representative of the approach we have taken to unlocking gift card value,” said in a statement Margaret Mackenzie, CEO of Plastic Jungle.
