An inmate from the Volusia County Branch Jail escaped from a Deland hospital where he sought treatment, but was later found in a patient's gown and shackles, a police official said this afternoon, reports the Orlando Sentinel.
Michael Burke, 23, an Volusia County inmate, had gone to use the bathroom but managed to give the guard the slip and "just walked out of the hospital," according to Deland police.
DeLand police officers said Burke had entered a garage, where he found a knife that he was carrying.
