Two local shows are among nominees for Media Awards by the National Religious Broadcasters, the main association for TV, radio and Web ministries.
Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale was listed among the four ministries with the best website. “Cross Examine,” run by Truth in Action Ministries, was nominated in two categories: Best Television Talk Show and Best Television Teaching Program.
Calvary Chapel is one of the largest churches in the U.S., according to Outreach magazine. Truth in Action Ministries is the former Coral Ridge Ministries, run by Fort Lauderdale minister D. James Kennedy, who died in September 2007.
Other nominees for best website were Movieguide, Answers in Genesis and Focus on the Family. For Best Television Talk Show, they included Pat Robertson’s “700 Club,” Focus on the Family’s “Your Family Live” and “The John Ankerberg Show.”
Best Television Teaching Program nominees include “700 Club Interactive” on Christian Broadcasting Network, “Day of Discovery” by RBC Ministries and “Friends and Heroes.”
They were among 16 categories for the NRB awards, including Best Use of Social Media and Best Television Mixed Media Campaign. Award winners will be announced Feb. 21 at the NRB’s annual convention, planned for the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville.
