Les Paul in inventors hallLes Paul was one of 14 people inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame on May 14. Paul, 89, invented the solid body electric guitar in 1946. His Gibson Guitar Corp. model is one of the best-selling instruments in the industry and he also is widely renowned for his recording techniques. Paul, a native of Waukesha, Wis., also has won five Grammy Awards.
