No. 4 -- "Sid Meier's Civilization V" (PC)

Build your civilization from under the command of ancient Egypt's Ramesses II, Catherine of Russia, Montezuma, George Washington, Napoleon I, Elizabeth I or any of the 18 civilizations from throughout history available. Your goal in this turn-based, war-strategy game is to take over the world. The game is complete with a new emphasis on mods, community, each leader's personality and unique traits and the ability to go to war over small city-states -- the same way many historical battles started. For those new to the series, it's sort of like a living, breathing game of "Risk." However, in addition to a military victory, civilizations can win with a diplomatic victory, or even a cultural victory. There's plenty to do in a game like this, plenty to learn about history, culture and the world -- and plenty to show off to your friends. This is a game for those with patience, an interest in historical warfare and culture and the ability to plan ahead like a general.
