Sick of shirts with American Flags on them? Think the make-your-own patriotic shirts are restricted to puffy paints and rhinestones? Think again. American artists have been creating iconic, aesthetically stunning images throughout our history, readily available online. Simply buy some iron-on transfer paper and apply the image yourself, or take a file of the image to your local print shop. Just remember, don't plan on selling any of your creations unless the copyright has expired, as that could constitute infringement. Clockwise from top left: Marilyn Monroe by Andy Warhol, VJ day in Times Square by Alfred Eisenstaedt, We Can Do It by J. Howard Miller, Obama "Hope" poster by Shepard Fairey, Washington Crossing the Delaware by Emanuel Leutze, and the Woodstock advertisement poster by Arnold Skolnick.
