Josh Brent kills teammate Jerry Brown in car crash

In the early morning hours of Dec. 8, Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent crashed his Mercedes, killing his passenger and former college teammate Jerry Brown. Brown was a practice squad linebacker with the Cowboys and, as Brent has described him, "my very best friend." Brent failed a roadside sobriety test and was charged with intoxication manslaughter and released on bail. Brent was spotted days later attending Brown's memorial service and on the Cowboys sideline during a game. Brent left during the third quarter after learning his presence, at the request of his teammates and Brown's mother, was causing controversy. He has since been banned from games.
