The St. Louis Rams reluctantly canceled a scheduled Super Bowl walk-through at the Georgia Dome on Saturday due to poor weather conditions and icy roads.
Coach Dick Vermeil called off the 45-minute session after state police told him the team could get to the Georgia Dome safely, but might have a problem on the return trip to their hotel.
"I didn't want to cancel it," Vermeil said. "I wanted them to go over there and get into that locker room and share the feeling of being together in the locker room where we go to battle tomorrow evening."
Vermeil said "everyone seemed in a panic" about the weather conditions."
"When you've lived in Philadelphia, Pa., as long as I have, I don't panic quite as much. But I listened to the troopers. I took their advice and canceled. I didn't want to, but I did," he added.
Vermeil said safety Keith Lyle would again be the backup behind Devin Bush. Lyle played in nickel situations in the NFC championship game after missing eight games with a bruised nerve.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
