Pit bull attacks

Pit bull attacks have been blamed for a number of deaths, and many cities have enacted legislation banning the breed. In February, 2010, pit bulls killed a 5-day-old infant in Georgia and a 38-year-old woman in Philadelphia. Advocates for the breed argue that improper breeding and training are more to blame for the attacks -- and pit bulls tend to be the victims of dog fighting rings, such as the one this dog was rescued from in Pennsylvania.
