On the Town: Parish School holds its Harvest Ball

Share

Parishioners and supporters of Burbank’s Saint Finbar Parish School gathered to bestow Harvester of Faith awards at their Harvest Ball fundraiser held at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center this past Friday evening.

This annual event, which raises funds to upgrade facilities and help the families and children of Saint Finbar Parish School who are in need of tuition assistance, recognizes individuals who have shown extraordinary leadership, inspiration, motivation, compassion and dedication to the school and parish community.

This year saw Harvester of Faith awards presented to Soledad “Chole” Stinton and local members of the Knights of Columbus, St. Cabrini Council.

“Chole is the heart and soul of our parish,” said former Burbank Mayor Michael Hastings, who chaired Friday’s event. “She is a beautiful soul who has selflessly served our parish in so many ways for over 40 years.”

Hastings also lauded the dedicated work of the Knights of Columbus, which was represented by Grand Knight Lou Estrella.

“These men have a deep history with our parish as well as the Burbank community,” Hastings said. “From soup nights to the support they have provided in the building and upgrading of our school’s facilities, it would be hard to find a group of more caring and dedicated men.”

Along with Hastings, last week’s Harvest Ball was made possible by his committee composed of Lucy Platner, Mary Greer, Rebecca Platner, Allison Knowles, Erica Menke, Katie Roth, Marifel Pagkalinawan and Stephanie Jonke.

Among those in attendance who honored the 2016 Harvester of Faith recipients were Burbank City Councilman Bob Frutos and his wife, Laura, former Burbank mayors Marsha Ramos and Anja Renike as well as Burbank Police Chief Scott LaChasse.
