Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority to reduce number of meetings per year

The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority will reduce the number of meetings it has throughout the year to improve efficiency with airport staff, officials said.

Board members voted 7-0 during their meeting last week to change the meeting schedule.

Commissioners Bill Wiggins and Steve Madison were absent.

Regular meetings will be held on the first and third Mondays in February, April, May, June and October. However, the authority will have only one regular meeting in January, March, July, August, September, November and December, said Frank Miller, executive director of Hollywood Burbank Airport.

The authority has usually held meetings on every first and third Monday of each month. However, Miller said the authority has historically held one meeting during the last two months of the year and in January due to the holidays.

In addition to cutting back on the number of regular meetings, the authority voted to remove a provision in its bylaws that allows for meetings to be held in the evenings. Miller said the airport has not scheduled an evening meeting for several years.

The time for regular meetings, which is at 9 a.m., will not be changed.

The executive director said the changes were being made to allow airport staff to focus their work on an upcoming replacement terminal project.

With the authority approving an agreement with Buro Happold Consulting Engineers, Inc. to review the conceptual plans for the 14-gate replacement terminal last week, Miller said it is crucial to make airport staff’s time more efficient to complete the project as quickly as possible.
