Burbank fire chief to take on new role at Hollywood Burbank Airport

With 30 years of service under his belt, Burbank Fire Chief Tom Lenahan is set to retire at the end of this year.

His last day with the Burbank Fire Department will be Dec. 28.

Lenahan rose through the ranks at the department, starting as a paramedic before moving on as an engineer, captain and battalion chief. He then was promoted to the position of assistant fire chief and then served as the city’s fire marshal.

In 2012, Lenahan was named interim fire chief after Ray Krakowski retired and was subsequently sworn in on a permanent basis.

Burbank City Manager Ron Davis said Lenahan had been instrumental in making the department into a highly decorated agency, and the city is grateful for his service.

Despite his retirement from the city, Lenahan isn’t leaving firefighting. He will serve as chief of Hollywood Burbank Airport’s fire department beginning in January.

He is thankful to the city for allowing him to “serve in such a noble profession,” Lenahan said in a statement.

“I look forward to continuing to enhance the partnership between the Hollywood-Burbank Airport, Burbank fire and the city,” he said.
