Tree-lighting to follow Winter Wine Walk

Organizers of Burbank’s up-and-coming beer festival are coming back to town to host the city’s first Winter Wine Walk.

More than 20 eateries in downtown Burbank will be participating in the one-day event, which will begin at 4 p.m. on Nov. 19 and end at 7 p.m. before a tree-lighting ceremony, said Vincenzo Giammanco, founder of the California Beer Festival.

Tickets are on sale for $45 each at burbankwinterwinewalk.com.

“We wanted to start a new event that’s really going to bring people into the different downtown businesses and bring people back into downtown Burbank,” he said. “The downtown area has been growing and there’s a lot going on down there, but this really gives people the chance to get together with friends and family and go explore a great resource that we have.”

The Winter Wine Walk is similar to the one Giammanco and his Burbank-based, event-organizing company have been putting on in downtown Ventura the last eight years, and it has become one of the more popular events they organize throughout Southern California.

As Giammanco started working with Burbank to organize its annual beer festival, the thought of bringing a wine walk event to the city was always in the back of his mind, he said.

“It’s a perfect area for it,” Giammanco said about downtown Burbank.

Unlike last month’s beer festival, the city will not be closing off any streets. Instead, participants will meet at the walkway near the AMC Burbank 16 at San Fernando Boulevard and Palm Avenue, where they will be given a complimentary drinking glass and a map to where all the tasting stops are located.

“It gives guests the chance to go with family and friends to explore downtown Burbank,” Giammanco said. “Some places will have a tasting of wine, and others will have a small sample of food. It just really kicks off the holiday season and gets everybody in the mood for a winter wonderland in downtown Burbank.”
