Letter: An important step toward awareness

Share

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. It’s a month to elevate awareness of this local/global horrific abuse of humanity. It is also a month for cities to take a public stand to eradicate potential avenues of harm to their residents.

It’s an opportunity to be a voice for those who have no voice. It’s a month to shine the light of hope on those wondering about the impact of this issue on their city. Jan. 11 was Human Trafficking Awareness Day.

The mayor of Burbank has taken a public stand of awareness. He has made a commitment to stand against any harm that would hurt our residents. This is huge.

I am grateful to live in a city where a mayor will issue a city proclamation addressing this issue and assuring the residents of his commitment to keep our streets and playgrounds safe.

I commend Mayor Bob Frutos for his diligent work in overseeing the city of Burbank.
