Letter: Burbank Coordinating Council is starting strong in 2016
Burbank Coordinating Council is busy already in this wonderful new year. Our next meeting will be held on Monday, Feb.1, at Little White Chapel, 1711 N. Avon St., from noon to 1:30 p.m. It is a luncheon and meeting with our speaker, JC Holt from Burbank YMCA. Cost is $10 for lunch. Reservations go to Doris at (818) 832-6361 or (818) 216-9377.
We invite you all to come and hear what is going on in Burbank, what organizations throughout the city are planning for the near future, and more.
We are kicking off the Coins for Campers program and will have plenty of bottles available for people to take to their work or homes to begin collecting coins to help send low-income children to camp this summer. We encourage schools to have classroom competitions to see who collects the most money from now till the end of the school year in May. The winning class will get a special prize.
Also, we are hosting a special fundraiser at California Pizza Kitchen, at 601 N. San Fernando Road, where on Feb. 9, all day, you can bring in a flier and buy any food items and Burbank Coordinating Council will collect 20% of the value of your order. All proceeds will go to the Campership Program. What a great way to eat and help too. Everyone wins.
We want to welcome everyone to our meetings and to our organization as we near our 83rd anniversary on March 7. You are the ones who make the programs successful and help us help our community. We look forward to seeing you soon. Check out the website at burbankcoordinatingcouncil.org for the California Pizza Kitchen flier and more organization information.
