Letters to the Editor: Co-chair of Kindertransport event invites all to participate Sunday

Share

I will be attending a special evening on Sunday, Dec. 3, and I invite Burbank residents to join me. We will gather on the steps of City Hall to recognize World Kindertransport Day, which commemorates the rescue of 10,000 children in the beginning of World War II. They were sent from occupied Europe to safety in England.

Government officials will be there too. We will light candles and walk from City Hall to the Colony Theatre to protest against persecution and genocide. The program at the Colony Theatre will feature speakers on Kindertransport, and rescuers and refugees both of wars and modern-day events. The evening is free and light refreshments will be served.

Please come out to join us for this important statement to Burbank and to our government officials. We cannot tolerate persecution and genocide, ever. Students are welcome to attend and hear about tolerance and human equality.

Call me with any questions at (818) 216-9377. Hope to see you at City Hall, 275 E. Olive Ave., at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3.
