Sports Roundup: Providence girls’ basketball garners lopsided Liberty League win

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Providence 45, Milken Community 25: The Pioneers built a big first-half lead and cruised to a Liberty League victory Thursday evening on the road.

The Pioneers (10-9, 3-1 in league) jumped out to a 31-14 lead after two quarters.

Ariel Gordillo paced Providence with 14 points, Liz Cruz added 10 points and five rebounds and Christa Kurkjian had 10 points.

Lycee International of Los Angeles 49, Sequoyah 4: The Lions rolled to an International League victory Thursday afternoon at McCambridge Park.

LILA (8-1, 5-1 in league) held the Gryphons scoreless in the first and fourth quarters.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Arcadia 9, Burbank 4: The Bulldogs lost at home Thursday afternoon and dropped to 3-12, 1-3 in the Pacific League.

Burroughs 15, Pasadena 1: Gwen Turla scored seven goals to lead the Indians to a Pacific League win Tuesday on the road.

Aleah Orozco added two goals and four assists and Lizzy Wrobel, Bianca Sanchez and Dominique Silva had two goals each for Burroughs (8-6, 3-1). Goalkeeper Melanie Gazazian had eight saves.
