Sports roundup: Burbank tennis takes care of Pasadena

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Burbank 15, Pasadena 3: Burbank defeated Pasadena for the second time in a span of three days for the Pacific League win Thursday afternoon at home.

Burbank also won by the exact same score Tuesday.

Burbank (6-1 in league) received a sweep in singles from Kristina Kirakosyan. Burbank is in second place in league, one match behind defending champion Arcadia (7-0 in league).

Providence 9, de Toledo junior varsity 9 (Pioneers win on games, 73-71): The Pioneers improved to 3-3 with the nonleague victory Wednesday afternoon at the Burbank Tennis Center.

Providence received a sweep from its doubles team of Zoe Beveridge and Honore Wood, 6-4, 6-3, 6-0. In singles, Rosalie Bedgadian won two, 6-2, 7-5.

Crescenta Valley 12, Burroughs 6: The Indians lost for the second time in three days to the Falcons, this time at Crescenta Valley High on Thursday afternoon.

Burroughs fell to 4-5, 3-4 in league.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Mary Star of the Sea d. Bellarmine-Jefferson, 25-6, 25-10, 25-7: The Guards were no match for Mary Star on the road Thursday in Santa Fe League action.

Bell-Jeff fell to 1-6-1, 0-2 in league.

GIRLS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Providence in Liberty League meet: The Pioneers placed fifth Thursday at Johnny Carson Park.

Pacifica Christian won the meet with 20 points, while the Pioneers had 115.

Carissa Guardado placed third for the Pioneers in 19 minutes, 54 seconds on the 2.75-mile course. Also scoring were Milena Mooradian (21st, 23:15), Emmi Avila (37th, 26:09), Sarah Storbakken (42nd, 26:34) and Alejandra Ortega (45th, 28:27).

BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Providence in Liberty League meet: The Pioneers finished sixth Thursday at Johnny Carson Park.

Pacific Christian placed first with 26 points, while Providence had 155.

The Pioneers scorers on the 2.75-mile course were Brian Chan (24th, 18 minutes, 24 seconds), Gabriel Serenil (26th, 18:48), Conrad Davis (32nd, 19:09), Arath Pedroza-Alberto (33rd, 19:17) and Lorenzo Edgar (41st, 20:17).
