Sports Roundup: Burroughs girls’ soccer doubles up on Pasadena in league opener

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Burroughs 4, Pasadena 2: The Indians began Pacific League play Friday afternoon with a victory on the road.

Catrina Villapando and Abby Riggs had two goals each for Burroughs (3-0).

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Providence 55, Pasadena Marshall 48 (overtime): The Pioneers earned a win Friday in the Pasadena Poly Tournament.

Providence is 6-1.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Hart 60, Burroughs 51: Burroughs lost Friday evening in the semifinals of the Burroughs Magnolia Park Optimist Club Tournament.

Faith Boulanger scored 19 points and had six rebounds, Jill Kukawski added 15 points and Marin Grote had six points, 10 rebounds and six blocks for Burroughs (4-1).

The Indians will play at 6 p.m. Saturday against Pasadena.

Providence 49, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 40: Melissa Zozulenko continued her stellar play as she tallied 26 points and nine rebounds in Friday’s win in the Pasadena Poly Tournament.

Francesca Maravilla added eight points and eight boards for the Pioneers (6-1), who will play in the tournament third-place game on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Burbank 62, Marantha 44: The Bulldogs rolled to a win Thursday evening in the consolation round of the Burroughs Magnolia Park Optimist Club Tournament.

Burbank (3-5) jumped out to a 23-9 lead after the first quarter.
