Sports Roundup: Providence girls’ volleyball cruises to league victory


Providence 3, Pacifica Christian 0: The Pioneers continued their strong run through Liberty League play with a 25-20, 25-23, 25-14 home victory Thursday.

Talia Patterson led the way for Providence (11-4, 3-0 in league) with 16 kills and five digs, while Giselle Camonayan added seven kills, eight digs and five aces, Sarah Cox chipped in eight kills and four blocks, Justine Nunez contributed 29 assists and Isabella Mahan finished with nine digs.

Burroughs 3, Crescenta Valley 1: The Indians kept their spot tied atop the Pacific League standings with a 25-18, 25-16, 23-25, 25-8 home victory Thursday.

Marin Grote led the way for Burroughs (18-3, 8-1 in league) with 16 kills as the Indians are knotted with Arcadia.

Pasadena 3, Burbank 2: Visiting Burbank dropped its third straight Pacific League contest on Thursday, 25-23, 17-25, 17-25, 25-20, 16-14. Burbank is now 10-3, 6-3.
