Sports Roundup: Burroughs tennis, volleyball nab league wins

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Burroughs 15, Pasadena 3: The Indians won their Pacific League match Tuesday afternoon at home.

Burroughs (5-4 in league) received doubles sweeps from Alice Weber and Phuong Nguyen, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, and Camryn Thompson and Emma Jones, 7-5, 6-1, 6-4.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Archer d. Providence, 25-11, 25-20, 25-15: The Pioneers suffered their first loss in the Liberty League Monday on the road.

Talia Patterson had 12 kills and nine digs, Isabella Mahan added 15 digs, Giselle Camonayan had four kills and eight digs and Justine Nuñez had 16 assists for Providence (11-4, 3-1 in league).

Burroughs d. Muir, 25-7, 25-6, 25-5: The Indians remained tied atop the Pacific League with the win Tuesday afternoon at home.

Burroughs, which received six kills from Jules Cottrell, is 19-3, 9-1 in league.

St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy d. Bellarmine-Jefferson, 25-18, 25-15, 25-17: The host Guards fell Tuesday evening in a Santa Fe League match.

Bell-Jeff is 1-9, 0-7 in league.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Arcadia 17, Burbank 8: The Bulldogs slipped to 7-5, 0-4 in the Pacific League with the loss on the road Tuesday afternoon.
