Utility-line work to resume on Laguna Canyon Road
Work aimed at the undergrounding of utility lines will resume Sept. 6 on the Big Bend portion of Laguna Canyon Road, according to a news release.
Southern California Edison crews will install underground cables and remove overhead wires during this phase of the project.
Both outbound and inbound lanes should remain open, though a current turn lane in the middle of the state highway might be used for outbound traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays until Sept. 24, the release said.
To avoid construction conflicts, Cox, Frontier and other communications companies will schedule their work after Edison has finished its portion.
Overhead poles will be removed last, after all wires are placed underground, city engineer Christina Templeton wrote in an email.
The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-2017, Templeton added.
