New lifeguards take part in training exercises

New Laguna Beach lifeguard hires participated in annual training exercises Aug. 5 at Main Beach.

Intersquad, held for more than 50 years, is an opportunity for lifeguards to show their abilities to the rest of the department, Marine Safety Lt. Kai Bond wrote in an email.

Lifeguards were placed in divisions by the geographic area they work, and participated in a 100-yard run, swim and paddle relay.
