Girls’ Tennis: Breakers move up to Division 1

The Laguna Beach High girls’ tennis program has held summer camp over the past two weeks, gearing up for the start of its 2016 season which gets underway in less than two weeks.

Coach Don Davis has been solidifying his singles and doubles lineups for the season which begins on the Laguna courts Aug. 31 against JSerra.

For the 2016 season, the Breakers will have a new home for the CIF Southern Section playoffs: Division 1.

Last year, the Oreange Coast League champions played in Division 2 and reached the second round where they were eliminated.

Davis’ previous five Laguna teams have been dominant in the OCL, going undefeated in each year.

“Since we moved up to D-1 this season, we’ll be playing several strong D-1 teams and so we have a tough schedule,” Davis said. “A very tough schedule, indeed.”
