Standup for the Cure

Orange County affiliate of Susan G. Komen will host a Standup Paddling event at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina, 1131 Back Bay Drive, Newport Beach. Free breast or skin cancer examinations will be conducted by doctors and nurses of Kaiser Permanente and the event will feature a silent auction and live music. Golden Chef Series

Irvine Spectrum Center, 670 Fortune Drive, will host the Golden Chef Series, a culinary showcase featuring eight live chef demonstrations. Featured chefs Sarah Daniels of Del Frisco’s Grille and Anthony Endy of Paul Martin’s American Grill will showcase recipes and tips at 2 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.
