Cirque du Soleil’s ‘Luzia’ opens at OC Fair & Event Center

Cirque du Soleil brought its production “Luzia” to the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa on Wednesday night, showcasing a surreal world of acrobatics, music and visual surprises.

“Luzia,” which takes audiences in a “waking dream” to an imaginary Mexico, runs through March 25, with performances at 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 4:30 and 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 1:30 and 5 p.m. Sundays.

The show explores various themes tied to Mexico’s culture, history and mythology. It is Cirque du Soleil’s 38th original production, according to show officials.

Cirque du Soleil is a Montreal-based theatrical organization with 1,400 artists from more than 50 countries. The company has performed for more than 180 million spectators in more than 450 cities and more than 60 countries.

Tickets for “Luzia” start at $50.
