Like, oh my God!

Big-hair, acid-washed jeans and shoulder pads all can be relived when the second annual Like Totally 80s Festival kicks off May 13 at Huntington Beach State Park.

For the record:

7:02 a.m. April 25, 2024An earlier version of this article gave an incorrect date for the festival. It will be held May 13.

The day of music will feature food trucks, a bar, vendors, Prince and Michael Jackson impersonators, an ’80s-themed costume contest and a number of favorite ’80s artists taking the waterfront stage.

Men Without Hats, Berlin, A Flock of Seagulls and Missing Persons will perform such hits as “Safety Dance,” “Take My Breath Away” and “I Ran.”

The lineup also includes The Untouchables, Animotion, Corey Feldman’s Angels and When In Rome UK.

Sirius XM personality Richard Blade, best known for his 1980s KROQ 106.7 radio programs featuring new wave artists, will host.

Festival organizer Scott Tucker of Huntington Beach-based Sellout Productions said after hosting Southern California concerts that featured rockabilly and punk, audiences wanted more choices.

“There was a need,” Tucker said. “We see what’s most popular and easiest for us, and ’80s was an easy choice.”

The first festival was held last year in Santa Ana, but relocating the event to the coastline seemed a better setting, as more people could attend and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere, he said.

About 4,000 to 5,000 people are expected to attend.

Tucker, 49, remembered when members of Missing Persons would get their hair done at Makin’ Waves Salon in Surf City.

As a teenager, he’d stand around after Missing Persons concerts in hopes of getting an autograph from lead singer Dale Bozzio.

“I just thought then, ‘That’s what I want to do,’ ” Tucker said.

The festival will close with a Prince tribute followed by a joint performance by Nick Richard of Boys Don’t Cry, Annabella Lwin of Bow Wow Wow, Debora Iyall of Romeo Void and The Reflexx.

“We have artists we like, and it’s bigger and better, as it’s one of the only ’80s concerts on the beach,” Tucker said.

Way cool.

Like Totally 80s Festival is from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 13 at Huntington Beach State Park, 21899 Pacific Coast Hwy. Tickets are $10 to $70. For more information, visit liketotallyfestival.com.
