Dozens of friends, family members and city officials gathered Tuesday night in Huntington Beach for a candlelight vigil to remember Edward Paige, an aerial photographer well-known in the community for his passion for unmanned flying vehicles.

Paige, a 36-year Huntington Beach resident better known as “Drone Eddie,” died Oct. 16 of heart complications while at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. He was 60.

Mourners shared their memories of Paige on Tuesday night.

Gina Clayton-Tarvin, president of the Ocean View School District board, said she and Paige were friends. He donated some of his photos to the district, she said.

“He was a great person, an advocate for children, the environment and all of H.B.,” Clayton-Tarvin said in an email Wednesday morning. “He will be greatly missed, and his passing is a loss for all who knew and loved him.”
