Huntington Beach rally calls for stricter gun control

Carrying signs bearing messages such as “One child is worth more than all the guns in the world,” a crowd of demonstrators held a Presidents Day rally near Huntington Beach High School on Monday to call on legislators to enact stricter gun control laws in the wake of last week’s mass shooting that left 17 people dead at a Florida high school.

The “Gun Sense” rally drew parents, students and teachers from around Orange County.

A national school walkout is planned for 10 a.m. March 14 in which teachers, students, administrators, parents and others would walk out for 17 minutes — one minute for each person killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.

Also, student organizers around the country are planning a March 24 march in Washington, D.C., to call for school safety and gun control.
