Around Town: Irvine-based AIDS foundation gets new CFO

The Irvine-based AIDS Services Foundation Orange County has named Guita Sharifi as its new chief financial officer.

Sharifi previously served as chief operations and financial officer for Rose Garden Holistic Care and worked with Garden Grove-based Acacia Adult Day Services.

The AIDS Services Foundation assists Orange County residents who live with HIV and AIDS.

Concordia Business School receives accreditation

Concordia University Irvine’s School of Business received its first business accreditation granted by the board of commissioners for the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education, an accreditation agency for college business programs.

“This accreditation confirms the breadth, integrity and rigor of our business programs to our current and prospective MBA and undergraduate students,” School of Business Dean Stephen Christensen said in a statement.

Senior Center to screen ‘The Age of Love’

The Costa Mesa Senior Center will offer a free screening 4:30 p.m. Wednesday for the movie “The Age of Love.”

The film, produced and directed by Steven Loring, aired at the Newport Beach Film Festival in 2014. His work presents 30 seniors in Rochester, N.Y., who participated in a speed-dating event exclusively for 70- to 90-year-olds.

After the screening at the senior center, 695 W. 19th St., a Q&A session with Loring will take place via satellite.

Foley to host forums on Costa Mesa issues, projects

Costa Mesa Councilwoman Katrina Foley will host a series of community forums for residents to discuss city issues and projects.

The first forum in the “Get Connected” series will be Aug. 30 at City Hall, 77 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa.

Foley, along with Councilwoman Sandy Genis, will discuss pet safety and neighborhood parking permits during the forum, which is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

Other events are planned for the fourth Tuesday of every month from now through November. Each is expected to last approximately one hour.
