Biz News: Ruby’s Diner to celebrate 35th anniversary with burger sale benefiting CHOC

Ruby’s Diner, founded and based in Newport Beach, will have a sale of its Ruby Burger on Wednesday to celebrate the company’s 35th anniversary.

The burger and fries will sell for $2.99, with $1 from each sale benefiting the Ruby Dooby Foundation, which will aid Children’s Hospital of Orange County’s neonatal intensive care unit.

“We feel privileged to continue my mother Ruby’s legacy of service and care,” Doug Cavanaugh, founder and chief executive of Ruby’s Diner, said in a statement. “The Ruby Dooby Foundation gives us a platform to give back to the community and to a cause close to Ruby’s heart, and show our gratitude for the past 35 years of service.”

The flagship Ruby’s Diner opened on the Balboa Pier in 1982.

Suburban dealership to host grand opening in Costa Mesa

The Suburban Buick GMC Cadillac dealership in Costa Mesa will have a grand-opening celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

The 4-acre business at 2600 Harbor Blvd. was rebuilt after the Suburban Collection, a Michigan-based company, acquired it. The dealership had been Nabers Cadillac beginning in the 1960s, and then an Orange Coast dealership.

Suburban now features two showrooms, one for Cadillac shoppers and another for Buick and GMC buyers. It has 78 sales and service employees.

Stag Bar party to feature ugly sweaters, toy and food drive

Stag Bar + Kitchen in Newport Beach will host its annual Ugly Sweater Christmas Party and toy and food drive Thursday.

The event, from 6 to 10 p.m., will include a free buffet from 6 to 8 p.m. Guests are encouraged to wear their “ugliest holiday sweater” and bring an unwrapped toy or a can of non-perishable food to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.

Stag Bar is at 121 McFadden Place.

Holiday festivities set at The Triangle in Costa Mesa

Families are invited to celebrate the season at a Holiday Happening event from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 10 in the upper-level courtyard at The Triangle shopping center, 1870 Harbor Blvd., Costa Mesa.

Festivities will include a performance of holiday favorites by students from the Orange County School of the Arts group Montage, holiday-themed face painting, a balloon artist and an appearance by Santa Claus.

See’s opens pop-up shop in Costa Mesa

See’s Candies has opened a 1,250-square-foot pop-up shop at The Shops at Mesa Verde in Costa Mesa.

The candy store will be open through Dec. 31 at the shopping center, 2701 Harbor Blvd.

White Lilac opens at South Coast Plaza

White Lilac, a design company, recently opened a home decor boutique at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa.

The store is on the first floor near Macy’s Home Furniture off Bear Street.

“We are thrilled to open our first-ever boutique at South Coast Plaza, the ultimate intersection of design, fashion, art and luxury,” Sunny Ravanbach, president of White Lilac, said in a statement. “Over the years, guests and clients have been asking me how they can buy the special items that we’ve showcased at private events. Now they can. This is the next stage in our evolution.”

Lighthouse Bayview Cafe celebrates first anniversary

Lighthouse Bayview Cafe in Newport Beach is celebrating its first anniversary this month with new winter menus.

“Growing up in my parents’ market in Costa Mesa, I experienced firsthand the seasonal change of fresh ingredients,” Executive Chef Ryan Sumner said in a statement. “My inspiration for the winter menus came from that early education and the beach and boating culture here in Newport. And the nightly specials are for the locals.”

The restaurant at Marina Park, 1600 W. Balboa Blvd., opened Dec. 9, 2015.

Vans store coming to South Coast Plaza

Shoe, apparel and action-sports brand Vans is scheduled to open a store Dec. 16 in South Coast Plaza’s Bear Street building in Costa Mesa.

The USC Collections store, also in the Bear Street wing, is undergoing a major renovation, according to California Apparel News.

In South Coast Plaza’s Bristol Street building, shops are planned for Dior Homme and Stella McCartney, Apparel News reported.

Last month, Loro Piana unveiled a remodel that doubled the size of its boutique.

SRS real estate firm names 2 new officials

SRS Investment Properties and National Net Lease Group has named Michael Walseth as senior vice president and McCall Huske as transaction coordinator in the Dallas-based company’s Newport Beach office, according to a news release.

Walseth has more than 20 years of commercial real estate experience. He recently was the executive broker at Marcus & Millichap in Newport Beach.

Huske worked at Marcus & Millichap as a transaction and marketing coordinator.
