A man and a woman who police say had a shotgun and methamphetamine in their car were arrested after a brief chase in Fountain Valley, authorities said.

Police attempted a traffic stop on a car near the intersection of Edinger Avenue and Los Gatos Street at 11:32 p.m. Sunday, Fountain Valley police said.

The car did not pull over immediately and led police on a quarter-mile chase until it stopped near the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Stilbite Avenue, police Sgt. Tony Luce said.
