Crash on 405 in Fountain Valley sends person to hospital

One person was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after a vehicle went out of control and crashed on the 405 Freeway in Fountain Valley, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers received a report of a crash involving three vehicles on the northbound 405 near Euclid Street at 12:18 p.m., Officer Florentino Olivera said.

Olivera said the driver of a Saturn had lost control of the vehicle and was blocking the right lane. Another vehicle, with damage to the front, was blocking the carpool lane, Olivera said.

The northbound freeway was temporarily shut down.

An occupant of the Saturn was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries, Olivera said.

It was not immediately clear what caused the crash.
