My Laguna photo contest winners announced
The city of Laguna Beach recently announced winners of the My Laguna photo contest.
The grand prize winner is Allie Evans for her photo titled “Jumping for Joy,” according to a news release.
The contest ran through June 7 and was open to photographers who live, work, or exhibit in Laguna, the release said.
In the Active Laguna category, Patrick McMahon earned first place for his photo titled “Skim Board Wake” while Garrett Smyers earned honorable mention for his photo titled “My Laguna.”
Laurie Hefty earned first place in the Community Life category for her photo titled “Laguna Artist” while Walter Hill earned honorable mention for his photo titled “Laguna Open 2016.”
Dave Munday earned first place in the Environmental category for his photo titled “Fisherman’s Cove” while Marshall Aren placed second with his photo titled “Sunrise Over Heisler Park. Sean Cox earned honorable mention for his photo titled “Crowning the New King.”
Sharbie Higuchi, Festival of Arts’ marketing and public relations director, reviewed 92 submissions from 37 photographers.
Winning photographs will be presented at an upcoming City Council meeting and are on display on the city’s website at lagunabeachcity.net/photocontest.
