Huntington Beach man pleads not guilty to molesting girl during burglary

A 27-year-old man pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges that he molested a girl after breaking into her family’s Huntington Beach home last month, according to Orange County Superior Court records.

Miguel Angel Pastrana of Huntington Beach is facing one count each of burglary and child molesting, both felonies. He’s also facing a misdemeanor count of peeking into an inhabited building, according to court records.

Authorities allege that Pastrana broke into an apartment in the 17000 block of Queens Lane on Sept. 19 and molested a girl whose age was not disclosed.

Huntington Beach police responded at about 6 a.m. to a report that a man was trying to enter a bedroom through a window. Officers later arrested Pastrana in the neighborhood, according to police.

Pastrana, who is listed in jail records as a gardener, is being held without bail in Orange County Jail in Santa Ana. He is expected to appear in court for a pretrial hearing Oct. 26.

Pastrana has pleaded guilty to various misdemeanor and felony charges since 2008, including possession of a controlled substance, burglary, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and a sentencing enhancement for criminal street gang activity, according to court records.
