Newport Harbor’s Haley Datt qualifies for CIF State Girls’ Wrestling Championships

EASTVALE — Newport Harbor High senior Haley Datt finished with a record of 5-3 during the two-day event at Roosevelt High on Saturday, finishing sixth and becoming the first Newport-Mesa District girl wrestler to qualify for the CIF State championships.

Datt, who went 2-2 on Saturday, will compete at the CIF State meet at the Visalia Convention Center on Feb. 26-27.

Newport Harbor junior Cheyenne Stooks was unable to qualify. She went 1-2 during the first day of the CIF Southern Section championships on Friday.
