Newport Lightning win tournament

The Newport Lightning Basketball Club’s 13-and-under Green team won the recent Orange County Slam Tournament in Orange.

The Lightning went 4-0 during the tournament.

The NLBC was led by the stellar play of Jack Johnston, Jon Siegel and Matthew DeCrona, who led the team in scoring. Troy Olson, Zach Mullhofer, Mitchell Frye and Rocco Duval were forces on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court, while Eddie Kim and David Moon played well.

The Lightning won by an average of 22 points per game and held opponents to an average of 23 points per game.

Jason Simco and Nick Flamson coached the team.
