High School Roundup: CdM girls’ tennis well represented in league semifinals

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Pacific Coast League tournament

IRVINE — Corona del Mar High qualified two singles players and two doubles teams into the semifinals Wednesday at Woodbridge High.

CdM’s Danielle Willson and Jasie Dunk made it in singles, as did the doubles teams of Camellia Edalat and Brooke Kenerson, as well as Roxy MacKenzie and Shaya Northrup.

The tournament continues Thursday at 1 p.m. at Woodbridge.

Sunset League tournament

Fountain Valley High’s Hanh Pham advanced to the singles semifinals Wednesday at Fountain Valley High.

Pham, the two-time defending league champion, will play Marina’s Chloe Manouchehri in the semifinals.

Newport Harbor’s No. 1 doubles team of Taryn Anderson and Eva Newsom also advanced to the semifinals and will play Fountain Valley’s team of Aozora Ito and Briana Lau.

In the other doubles semifinal, Fountain Valley’s Katie Ho and Clarissa Htay will play a team from Huntington Beach High on Thursday.

Academy League tournament

Sage Hill’s Miya Stauss and Miranda DeBruyne advanced to the singles semifinals.

DeBruyne will play top-seeded Michelle Hyun of Whitney on Thursday at Sage Hill, while Stauss plays Natalie Kowal of St. Margaret’s.

Sage Hill’s doubles teams of Michelle Hung and Nicole Condas, Kat Kiani and Maya Byrd, as well as Izzy Deckey and Morgan Mann, are also all competing in the doubles semifinals Thursday.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Newport Harbor 15, Marina 5

Connor Turnbow-Lindenstadt scored four goals for the Sailors in Wednesday’s Sunset League game at Newport Harbor High.

Charlie Covina added two goals for Newport Harbor (17-7, 3-1 in league).
