LOS ANGELES – UC Irvine upset No. 7-ranked USC, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22, on Saturday night at the Galen Center.

Senior Victoria Dennis led UCI (1-2) with 18 kills and hit .624 (one error in 26 attempts), while outside hitter Haley DeSales had a career-high 10 kills and 10 digs.

It was the first UCI win in 11 matches against the Women of Troy.

Earlier Saturday, UCI fell to Marquette, 23-25, 25-18, 25-22, 17-25, 15-11, also at the Galen Center.

UCI opens its home schedule Friday against Northeastern at 7 p.m. at the Bren Events Center.

UC Irvine 1, Boise State 0

BOISE, Idaho – Junior forward Kiana Palacios converted an assist from senior Kelsey Texeira in the 96th minute for the game-winner in overtime in the Bronco Invitational game on Sunday.

Palacios has four goals this season for UCI (4-0), for which freshman goalie Maddie Newsom made two saves to record the shutout.

Texeira, who had one goal and two assists in the two games was named Attacking MVP of the tournament.

Boise State fell to 1-2.

UCI visits Nevada on Thursday at 1 p.m.

Orange Coast 11, Cuyamaca 0

Sophomore forward Sydnee Busby had four goals and two assists and sophomore Shelle Zito had three goals and two assists for the host Pirates in the nonconference season opener on Friday.

Sophomore Jordan Moore had one goal and two assists for OCC.
