Costa Mesa ends girls’ golf losing streak to rival Estancia

Jennifer Martinez and Morelia De Loera helped the Costa Mesa High girls’ golf team edge rival Estancia 258-259 in an Orange Coast League match on the Mesa Linda Course at Costa Mesa Country Club on Tuesday, ending the Mustangs’ seven-match losing streak to the Eagles.

Martinez and De Loera each finished at 13-over-par 47, and Martinez eagled the par-five No. 5 hole.

Estancia’s Lexi Thorpe shot a 41, earning the medalist honors.

The schools split their two Battle for the Bell meetings this year, with Estancia winning 277-283 on Sept. 18.
